In our style guide by star sign series, we look at how to enhance your personal style according to common traits associated with your zodiac sign—this time, we explore the deep and dreamy essence of Pisces

Pisces (February 19-March 20), which is symbolised by two fish circling each other, is a water sign ruled by Neptune, the planet of dreams. People born under this sign tend to lean towards creativity and deep emotions. Sometimes, they might come across as closed off but it’s because they are channelling their energy into personal pursuits.

Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Lupita Nyong’o are among the famous Pisceans, and what they have in common (apart from their star sign) is an eclectic style of dressing that highlights their unique relationship with clothes—from consistently sticking to one particular aesthetic regardless of the occasion (think Bieber’s street style) to making statements with bold clothes and accessories (Rihanna’s internet-breaking maternity style).

Like these celebs, all Pisceans can enhance their personal style, based on their personality traits, by following these three ways.

1. Aesthetic or brand preference

Pisces people likely feel strongly about sticking to a particular brand or aesthetic. Following a designer’s trajectory and collecting select garments and accessories along the way is an emotional way to build a wardrobe. It makes dressing more than just the mere act of putting on clothes, it articulates that extra effort taken to put together all the pieces and create an ensemble that is uniquely yours.

2. Peekaboo hues

Pisceans can embrace their self-protective nature visually by wearing neutral monochrome outerwear with bright, colourful or playful innerwear. Layering a bright shirt or dress with a subtle jacket or overcoat might visually represent the Pisceans’ desire to hold themselves close, while choosing to share their true selves with select individuals who understand them fully.

3. Bohemian touches

The Pisceans’ deeply emotional nature can be enhanced through layering rich fabrics and accessorising them with bold items, taking a page out of the Bohemian style from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Emma Stone’s character Bella Baxter in her latest film, Poor Things (2023), is a great example of how to nail the vintage Bohemian look in a contemporary manner. Just drape yourself with satin, velvet or suede and incorporate motifs according to your taste, whether it be flowers, feathers, crystals or bows.
