We spoke with CEO Dani Reiss to learn more about the recent Canada Goose footwear launch, including his meticulous attention to detail and which shoe suits his lifestyle best
This is the first time Canada Goose is introducing footwear—why now?
Footwear is the natural next step for our brand and taking our function-first experience to another level. With everything we do, we are meticulous and strategic – only bringing something to market that we are confident holds up to our high-quality standards, performs and is authentically ‘us.’
Over 40 men and women around the world, including global adventurers, scientists and entertainment industry professionals, logged hundreds of miles over six months, putting our footwear to the ultimate test. They tested them in diverse terrain and experienced a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions, providing critical feedback that contributed to the final design.
What makes these boots “Canada Goose”?
Our products meet and exceed the demands of the city and Arctic—that same approach was brought into this new category. Our footwear is everything our outerwear and apparel is: Function-first designs that perform when and where they’re needed, made with premium materials and best-in-class craftsmanship.
We started the design process similarly to how we design our outerwear and apparel—by finding inspiration from our archival products that span six decades.
Our iconic Snow Mantra Parka, renowned as the warmest parka on Earth, played an important role in the design of these first boots—the Snow Mantra Boots are packed with the all the same DNA of its outerwear counterpart, giving it a unique and distinctive identity. The Journey Boots have the same level of performance, built for the demands of the everyday.
