Mercury and Mars change signs this week, bringing new energies of competence and expansiveness. This is Tatler’s weekly horoscope for December 12 to 18.

Welcome back to our weekly astrology series led by Hong Kong-based Western astrologer, De Rui.

Mercury and Mars change signs this, bringing new energies of competence and expansiveness. Harsh contacts between the Sun and outer planets are asking us to embrace hidden parts of our personality. Activities from the past can remind us of what is or is no longer meaningful to us.

Don't miss: Tatler’s Monthly Horoscope: December 2021

Into the unknown

Stars signs affected the most: Taurus, Cancer, and Scorpio may seem like a new person.

The week presents opportunities to try on different hats and guises. Challenging situations may call into question your ideas about how you stand out or what makes you unique. Try to remember they are also opportunities to try something new or embrace another side of yourself. Being too comfortable in your comfort zone is what leads to getting stuck in that proverbial rut.

Getting it done

Stars signs affected the most: Libra, Capricorn, and Pisces will be on top of things.

Mercury arrives in Capricorn mid-week and lends an air of competence and organization. We are more willing to jump through hoops in our day-to-day life to get through our tasks. Following the rules can seem to make more sense. The planet’s harsh contact with the asteroid Ceres in Gemini is a reminder to balance our inner taskmaster with our inner caretaker. Interspersing your workday with a casual coffee and chitchat can nourish the soul.

Try something new

Stars signs affected the most: Sagittarius and Aquarius can expand their horizons.

Big ideas can also come to the foreground this week with the action planet Mars moving into Sagittarius and merging its energies with the Moon’s south node. As we build up toward the Full Moon on December 19, we can be more motivated to take action on behalf of what we find meaningful. If a sense of meaning is lacking, now is an excellent time to proactively explore through new experiences or teachers. Revisiting themes from the past might prove instructive.
