More recently, she was in Malaysia for Korea Tourism Organization’s Korea Travel Fest 2023, during which she participated in an intimate showcase featuring performances of songs from popular K-dramas. Prior to the OST extravaganza, Tatler sat down with Soyou for a quick catch-up.
It has been a while since we last saw you in Malaysia! What did you look forward to the most coming back to Malaysia?
The number one thing I look forward to the most is the food! The last time I was in Malaysia, I didn’t have many opportunities to try Malaysian cuisine, so this time around, I’d like to try as many dishes as I can.
You’ve done a lot of collaborations with many artists. Which ones would you say were your favourites to work on?
There was a song that I collaborated on with an R&B singer named Junggigo called Some. That was definitely one of my favourites. It was released in 2014 and it became so popular with the fans that they memorised the whole song. People were calling it the best song of 2014.
Do you have any plans to act in films or K-dramas? What kind of roles would you explore?
Actually, I do want to try my hand at acting! I’m just waiting to be offered a role in a film or a K-drama. In terms of what kind of roles I would explore… I don’t mind taking on any. As long as there’s an offer, I’ll work hard and try my best to do it well.
