In Chinese culture, colours play a significant role in a home as they are endowed with lucky meanings. Once spring cleaning is over, it’s a typical custom to liven up your home with traditional red decor that hold auspicious meanings. “A simple way to instantly add a festive ambience is to decorate the place with some Chinese New Year ornaments, such as paper cuttings and red lanterns,” advises Jeremy Tay, director of Singapore-based design firm Prestige Global Designs.

Indulging in festive goodies during this festive period is one of the many highlights of the season! If you find your home cluttered with bottles upon bottles of snacks, Tay suggests gathering them together for a fun decor centrepiece. “Create a Chinese New Year goodies store at home by placing the snacks into beautiful receptacles of varying heights; this also signifies bountiful blessings.”
