On November 18, we hosted the third edition of The Catalyst Series.
Taking place over a private lunch in Tatler House Hong Kong, the series provides Gen.T honourees with an opportunity to learn through an open, moderated discussion with their peers as well as experts from J.P. Morgan Private Bank, with whom we have co-organised the series.
This edition featured Mac El-Omari, who was with the bank for almost 30 years, retiring in August as vice chairman of investment banking for Asia Pacific. He was joined by entrepreneurs from the Gen.T community who run private companies that are either venture-backed or looking for funding, to discuss managing growth, giving back and the coming democratisation of capital.
Attendees at the lunch included Kevin Poon, co-founder of streetwear brand Clot and serial entrepreneur; Sean Zhang, co-founder of e-sports platform Talon Esports; Alvin Kwock, co-founder of fintech startup OneDegree; Walden Lam, co-founder of fashion technology company Unspun; Juliette Gimenez, co-founder of e-commerce platform Goxip; and Anca Griffiths, co-founder of women’s wellness platform OM.
“Your greatest asset in life is your honesty and integrity. Your reputation will define you as a person and will shape your life path,” said El-Omari over lunch, as he shared the insights he’s acquired through his distinguished career. Later in the lunch, the honourees shared their experiences of seeking capital, sharing best practices and lessons learned with their peers.
We are hosting three more Catalyst Series events in 2021. If you’re a Gen.T honouree and you’d like to apply to attend, email editor@generationt.asia.
