Don't miss: 5 of King Charles’ favourite foods and how to make them yourself at home

1. Galvin at Windows

With a stunning panoramic view of Buckingham Palace, Galvin at Windows is presenting an unmissable British feast in honour of King Charles. From May 1 to May 6, don’t miss out on chef Marc Hardiman’s five-course tasting menu that spotlights seasonal and sustainable British produce—principles which His Majesty holds deeply.

Expect Hardiman’s twist on the King’s favourite cheesy baked eggs, made with a coddled St Ewes egg, cured ham and Montgomery cheddar. Go on to enjoy the Maran chicken, a French breed that King Charles keeps, presented with British peas, broad beans and wild garlic. The tasting menu finishes on a tart, tangy note with the lemon cream served with raspberries and meringue, one of the King’s favourite desserts dreamt up in the stormy weather of the Shetland archipelago.

2. The English Grill

Have a luxurious coronation afternoon tea at the English Grill, located at the Rubens at the Palace Hotel directly opposite Buckingham Palace. From May 1 to August 1, be treated to spins on His Majesty’s favourite dishes, such as the wild mushroom parfait sandwich made with English asparagus, vegan parmesan cheese, and truffle on brown bread. It’s inspired by the King’s love of wild mushrooms that he lovingly forages on his Balmoral estate.

Don’t miss out on sweet treats like the orchard plum confit with Madagascan vanilla sponge and praline crémeux, a creation inspired by King Charles’s penchant for ordering two plums for breakfast—but only having one.

For a more indulgent offering, don’t forget the coronation Lanson dinner on May 5, an exclusive black-tie event which sees a seven-course dinner paired specially with Lanson champagne for a luxurious night. The menu also pays tribute to King Charles with favourites such as a herb-crusted rack of Welsh lamb served with spring baby vegetables and rosemary jus, paired with a Lanson Rosé Label NV for a light and crisp accompaniment. With so many delights, the English Grill is a must-visit.

Also at the Rubens at the Palace is the Curry Room, which is paying homage to the closely intertwined histories of India and Britain this coronation season with a coronation Indian feast. For one night only on May 4, sink your teeth into Indian delicacies made with exclusively imported Indian spices.

Premium offerings such as the lobster bahar done in Kerala style stun with a burst of flavour, and the shaan-e-murgh featuring chicken breast in butter sauce is set to be a favourite. An elevated earl grey cheesecake with orange and chocolate mousse takes centre stage for the desserts, but for a truly luxurious offering worthy of a Maharaja, go for the gulab jumin, which is a pistachio and rose crumble served with saffron syrup and vanilla custard.

5. Cheneston's

Cheneston’s is pulling out all the stops for its King’s Coronation dinner on its corner in the royal borough of Kensington. From May 5 to 12, feast on a nine-course menu curated by executive chef Daniel Putz with principles of sustainability in mind.

To celebrate the occasion, a coronation chicken is a must-have. Putz’s version is a smoked coronation chicken croquette paired with a spiced apricot ketchup, bursting with flavour from the curry and the ketchup. A wild mushroom risotto, another favourite of the King’s, is present on the menu with roasted chicken skin and lemon thyme crumb for a welcome crisp and subtle hint of zest. End the meal with the King of Puddings, an aptly-named dessert made with seasonal rhubarb, custard and meringue.

Grosvenor House is no stranger to royalty, having hosted King George VI’s Coronation Ball in 1937. It’s no surprise that the Park Room at Grosvenor House should offer an exclusive coronation afternoon tea, available from April 4 to May 10. The menu takes inspiration from all over the United Kingdom, such as the traditional Irish apple cake, or the heather honey mousse with honey sourced from the Scottish Highlands.

Enjoy these delights with a smattering of delicate finger sandwiches and Darjeeling tea, one of the King’s favourite blends. If not, premium Ridgeview sparkling wine and non-alcoholic sparkling rosé is available for an extra indulgent afternoon tea.

From April 24 to May 28, afternoon tea classics such as freshly-baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream and jam will be presented alongside an array of premium finger sandwiches. Don’t miss out on the roast sirloin beef sandwiches or the coronation chicken that’s the perfect bite for a peckish afternoon tea.
